Generally I prefer Manga. Manga is usually more convenient. But occasionally I prefer Anime to Manga, like in the case of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I think the Anime is a lot better than the manga.

Ah, it all depends on the Anime/Manga in question.
For example; I prefer the Samurai Deeper Kyo manga over the Anime, as it has all the perverted jokes and violence, and no dumb monsters. And it has its very conclusive ending, where the Anime does not.
However, I find Bleach to be better as an Anime, as you get to really get the flowing violence that you just don't get from still images.

Then again, there are no fillers in mangas (Thank god!)
So yeah, it varies. It really does depende on the story and positives/negatives balace to each scenario.
I <3 Grimmi.
I see weird people. Oh, thats just me, looking in the mirror. ^o^,

I wondered when a VRS topic would get posted.

I have to agree with most everyone. It strictly depends on what it is about. Like Ouran High School Host Club. I love the anime way more then the manga. They just add so many little tid bits that make it better...Like the lightbulbs.

Then there is Vampire knight(not one word out of any of you! LoL)...nothing to say there, the manga tops.

Also where a anime may be edited or censored a manga won't so you get the true grasp of what really is going on. I tend to watch anime subtitled the first time around just to catch the true meaning behind alot of things then go back and watch it in english. Yeah I'm just odd that way.

I'm more or less on the fence. I like the Anime becuase, as stated by chimchirio, you can see everything kind of come to life. It gives them color and (apparent) motion. Plus, I'm always anxious to hear the soundtrack to a good anime. I'm a music buff so the sound effects and music in an anime can make or break it for me. I am pretty serious. I can flat out hate an anime simply for crappy voice acting or a poor score.

On the other hand, I like the manga because it tends to have more of the meat of a story whereas, oftentimes when a manga is transfered from paper to the screen, the anime studio will tend to want to mix up the order of events (cause I guess they think they can tell someone else's story better or something) or add in a lot of filler junk. The manga is usually a bit more pure than the anime.

In some cases, I actually like the manga and anime equally. This is especially true with stories that transfer well between the two mediums, such as Death Note, which was fantastic in both anime and manga. And, even though there are huge differences between the two, I kind of love the Fruits Basket anime and manga equally becuase while they rush the story and leave out different parts in order to finish the anime series, both are extremely enjoyable. However, I would suggest to anyone new to the whole Fruits Basket craze: go ahead and enjoy the anime then read the manga. Both are very nice in their own ways and if you view them in that order, you'll get surprises and fulfillment without too much frustration or confusion.

So, yeah, it depends for me.

mm..i personally like anime... its probably because for me it was weekly on tv and if you know the story already from a manga, you have a lot of surprise. original storys and i personaly like to guess the voiceactors ... i was always looking at the endroll and be like " it was him/her! i knew it :D "
so... but i still agree about inuyasha though... manga was better than the anime...first couple episodes were awesome graphics but..what the hell happend...it got really bad....ending was horrible too...
but i thought most of the animes i watched was a pretty good success like "kannagi" "toradora!" (although this one is a novel originally ..) "fullmetal alchemist" "rurouni kenshin"....
anyways yah....i like anime..
