The complete tutorial of how to draw manga - Step 6

Postby Lilli10779 on Sun Jan 11, 2009 8:03 pm

Step 6: Final touch for your manga – adding texts into the dialog boxes.

Supplies Required: computer with the image editing software PhotoShop installed.

I normally combine this step with step 5, but here I separate them just to make it clear for beginners. When adding the texts, Photo Shop can be a very handy tool as well.

A few things need to pay attention to:

First, choose the right font. Anime Ace is one of the most popular font for comics. I used Comic Sans MS myself for a long time until I learned it has already been over used and not the best choice! Wish someone had told me about this earlier!
Second, sometimes text art can supplement the graphics and add special effects. Have fun with it and be creative.

Now congratulations my friend, you have finished this tutorial and ready to get your own manga going~ have fun and practice more. Yeah~~~~

Revisit the previous step:
Step 5: Enrich your drawings by adding shadows and textures.

I spend this entire weekend working on this tutorial, hope some people will find it useful. ^^
I hate text-only tutorials, so add lots graphics in there just to make it fun for anyone who read it.

Any thoughts let me know ^^ I am going to bed now... tired~~ >_<

Look up this link for speedball pen.

I use Prismacolor fine line marker, come with sizes in 0.05, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8. Works really well.
