Questions for comic readers:

Postby Lilli10779 on Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:05 pm

I have always followed the US comic orders to divide the pages, which is from left to right, however I notice a lot of US manga magazines prefer the Japanese order (right to left), so to compromise everyone I have to use Photoshop to flip the pages...so annoying!!!

Sometimes you flip the page and the image can look really funny and you know you'd messed up but its too late to fix... I hate when that happen to me.

What reading order do most of you prefer? Especilly for who draw comics themselves. Let me know~~ :?:

Well, personally, I've always read manga from right (> ` o ` )> to left <( ` o ` <) soooo.....when I read manga from -like say tokyopop- or something which is left to right. I get confused ( @ - @ )

.......I dont think this helps lol but I guess just go with whatever you like best :)

I prefer reading right to left. :D

I'd prefer writing right to left, too.. but I don't know of any OEL manga that was first produced that way... anyone else?

I love right to left but I remember getting my first manga and being like "What the...!!". I definitely prefer it now though.

I've read just about everything, so I'm not really confused by it all, and flipping on Photoshop is the worse thing you can do.

One time I accidently picked up american book and started reading it from the back, I ruined the ending of Harry Potter xD

I don't care which way they read. I've read ones that were left to right as well as traditional. As far as creating goes, setting it up for publication is not my job. There are people who do that at the publishing house.

I do mine's right to left. Like manga is supposed to be lol I don't get why american manga artists go left to right. If you're doing manga you go hard (all the way) or go home lol At least that's how I feel about it. That goes for putting their all into into too. To me, the more detail in ink and other things the manga or manhua artist goes into, that's what defines a great manga or manhua artist to me :) Oh, and if anyone wants a reallly good example of well done manhua, check out a manhua called Veritas. Sometimes the artist's inkwork get so detailed it's PORTRAIT like in appearance. :) Oh, and it's hilarious too. :) Lots of great fight scenes, amazing inkwork and great dialogue. :)
