but i guess i could give it a try seeing as i am the first to do this.
i guess if you really want to start a manga you should start off with a clear mind, try going outside or hanging out with friends to get happier ( it is proven that more work can be completed when you are in an optimistic mood, you get less frustrated) try brainstorming ideas on a sheet of paper, or on your computer, it also helps if you have a friend to do this with, its always good to have a second opinion.
once you choose a good idea for a plot try drawing out your characters and layout, don't bother coming up with the personalities or placement of each character, you will do that later when you get into more detail of the plot line. don't throw out the earlier plot ideas, they may come in handy if you become frustrated and give up, which i hope will not happen...but it does so be prepared, making a story is hard enough but adding a graphic novel is problematic, good thing you went out and became optimistic beforehand....-.-'
continuing-------> now that you have a basic plot line and character design down on paper you can begin on personalities and placement. the personalities should come to you with their appearance, usually. if not you can also brainstorm on these.
coming up with a beginning is probably the hardest part, once you get into it it becomes easier, until you hit a block.
i will post more on this subject later it is 6:44 AM where i am now, so i am retiring for the night.
i have returned with more contemplated thoughts of how to make a manga...
well, now that you have the characters personalities you can come up with a place for them to fit into the overall story, their personality can help with this, its shown that the heroine of the story (if the manga artist 'mangaka' is a male) will be his idealistic woman. the opposite goes for the female mangaka.
now there is many different kinds of manga, slice of life, action, romance, horror. the genres kind of resemble the genres of movies and TV shows.
again as i said earlier it helps to have a second opinion, or even just a proofreader. also having a second hand with drawing can help, if you have a friend who also draws and is willing to help it can be a great resource. currently i have three assistants, but they only specialize in specific things (yumi- draws backgrounds, amureto- does colors and shading, and last but not least, reishii- who draws and finds the wrinkles in clothing.)
try staying committed to your manga, it is easy to get frustrated and give up.
keep striving towards your dream, i must work on my manga, i have a deadline for 3 more inked pages by Tuesday.
thank you for reading, i hope to get replies on your process.
