This 8 pages short story was the ending of the actual story, written by my friend Lico. I finished this piece by 2001, and it was also the year I left China and moved to the US. This dramatic change of my life was where my original inspiration came from. Lico’s story ended as a tragedy, but I decide to create extension of this story, which I was working on recently. I will post them soon as I move the comic along.
I apologize that so far this mermaid story is in piece, because I never got time to finish the whole comic as a student. From 2002 to 2008 I stopped working on my manga pieces due to some confusions of career choice, and finally picked up again by the middle of last year.
For those of you that got confused with the story line, here’s the outline:
In childhood, Princess Dina discovered a mermaid who has the same face as her, and the mermaid became good friends with her and her three younger sisters. When Princess Dina was engaged to Prince Zach for political purpose, Dina was pushed into the ocean in a murder attempt. In order to cover the tragedy and protect their country, the three sisters had mermaid Dina as a substitute to marry Prince Zach. However, the mermaid was in love with the Prince. Eventually, when the prince found out her real identity, she decided to return to the ocean.
