I think US comics were the initial influence of manga. If you look at manga from the 60th ( the earliest stage), they look a lot alike. Who know this character I post here? :mrgreen:

American comics may have been an impetus, but not sure it was the initial influence ;)

reckon there were strands going back through Japanese art. I'm no expert but the form of a Manga book also seems different from the comic to me.

a very interesting question - could be a subject for a PhD! :ugeek: :lol:
