Free Software

Postby Lisha on Wed Jan 28, 2009 1:33 pm

Here are some sites that offer free software for different types of art at all levels of experience.

http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/

Serif is a wonderful site. I personally use PhotoPlus so it isn't a scamsite.

Artweaver is for the curious Artist. So many different things to experiment with here. And oh my to the plug-ins. I get lost in just playing with all the brushes.

Gimp. A friend of mine loves it. I have no clue. But they come up with some nice stuff.

http://www.getpaint.net/

Very similar interface to Adobe Photoshop...only free. Requires .net framework from mircosoft...also free.

This is an online program supposedly no download required...How awesome is that?

Cheers
downloaded GIMP but having a few problems finding my way around
some of the features don't seem very intuitive, but that could be just me being stoopid
also might be expecting to do too much
when i have chance to play with it more will hopefully get sorted and have something to show in the gallery :D
if you look at it the right way, the whole world is a garden.

On the Linux platform, in addition to GIMP, Krita is a pretty decent paint program.
